To apply for an ESED Scholarship, please create an account, complete the requested fields and only upload the requested documents. Additional documentation will be discarded. Be sure to read the instructions that follow on how to fill in the form and upload the documents, and refer to the FAQ section before submitting your application.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE APPLYING
An applicant must:
be a citizen of a developing country or territory identified for official OECD development aid in the DAC list of ODA recipients effective as of 2015 (see list);
have graduated among the top 20% of her/his class;
have chosen a program of study directly related to sustainable energy development (i.e. with a high focus on renewable energy and/or the power sector in general); and
possess a letter of acceptance provided by an academic institution for the 2016-17 academic year, or is at least able to provide evidence that the academic institution of choice is considering the candidate’s application for admission.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR THE 2016-2017 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
1. Read the Frequently Asked Questions.
2. Create an account on the ESED Online Application System using your e-mail.
3. Fill in the requested information. (Please note all fields must be filled in)
4. Upload the requested documents only.
5. Verify the status of your application. If it indicates that your application has been submitted please wait until the results are posted on the Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership’s website. If your application is on hold, please make sure to complete your application before the deadline.
a. Passport or Birth Certificate:
Please make sure to send a copy of your passport (the information page only) or a scanned copy of your birth certificate. Please refer to the section above regarding country eligibility.
b. Curriculum Vitae:
A curriculum vitae (CV or resumé) provides an overview of a person’s life and qualifications. There is no set standard format for this document; however, for our purposes it must not exceed 50 KB.
Applicants must provide this document in the original language in which it was published, and provide an unofficial translation. Note that all information provided by winning candidates will be verified and checked for authenticity. Please do not send diplomas.
d. Letter of admission from a university:
A maximum of two acceptance letters will be accepted. PLEASE PROVIDE ALL THIS INFORMATION AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE AS THE APPLICATION SYSTEM WILL BE BUSY NEAR THE DEADLINE.
If your admission is pending, please provide evidence that you have applied for university admission and that the institution in question is considering your application.
If your admission has been deferred, include a certificate attesting to this fact.
If your application is for a second year of a two-year program, you must include a certificate of enrolment from the university registrar as well as your results of first year exams, or whatever is available at the time of application for this scholarship.
e. Program outline:
Please attach an outline of your master’s program of the university of your first choice. Please make sure that your program has a high content related to sustainable energy.
Please note that programs that have no or small relation to sustainable energy will be discarded
f. Academic Reference:
The Academic Reference Form provided for this purpose must be completed. Only this form will be accepted. Should the referee wish to submit the reference directly to the Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership, they can send it directly to firstname.lastname@example.org. Once received by the General Secretariat it will be indicated in the online application system.
g. Personal Reference:
There is no set form for this letter, but the Academic Reference Form can be used for the personal reference. The reference should be provided by someone who knows the applicant personally, and can attest to his/her goals and character. Should the referee wish to submit the reference directly to the Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership, they can send it directly to email@example.com. Once received by the General Secretariat it will be indicated in the online application system.
h. Applicant’s Statement:
The Applicant’s Statement Form provided for this purpose must be completed. Only this form will be accepted, separate letters will be disregarded. When filling in your application you will be requested to answer some questions. Please upload the form after completing it.
